The front punch without any type of body movement other than the arms and fist is very simple and yet complex all at the same time.
Throughout all types of martial arts and fighting techniques you'll find various ways to throw a punch. There is not a single way to punch that is superior to any other way. The biggest difference is the situation you find yourself in and the technique that works best for you. Also, do people really understand the steps to how their punch is suppose to be thrown. It's more than a fist attached to an arm, thrown out from the body. In the Okinawan Karate that I teach, our front punch has 12 steps (fist, chamber, knuckles, eyes, center, elbow, turning, breath, weight, shoulders, bone, recoil). It could take up to a year before a student truly masters the front punch. That is the beauty of martial arts, its not something that can be timed, planned or paid for. As your teacher, when you come to class, we go over the little details a video can't tell you. I go one on one to adjust and show you and make sure your practice is perfect.
